Christ Lives Through Me
Blog Post #2 — Christ Lives Through Me
Romans 6:13 • Philippians 2:13
The Christian Life Is Not Just Christ in You — It’s Christ through You
Romans 6 doesn’t just tell us who we are in Christ; it tells us how Christ expresses His life through us. Paul uses a striking word: instruments.
Romans 6:13 — “Present your members to God as instruments of righteousness.”
Instruments don’t act on their own.
Instruments don’t produce music by effort.
Instruments don’t perform by trying harder.
Instruments are vessels — extensions — through which someone else expresses life, skill, and power through them.
That’s Paul’s point.
Your body, your mind, your voice, your hands — your members — are the very means through which Christ expresses His life.
Christ Acts Through Your Members
Romans 6:13 is not a verse about trying harder. It’s a verse about yielding.
Paul says:
• Don’t present your members to sin
• Present your members to God
• As instruments of righteousness
This means:
• Christ speaks through your mouth
• Christ loves through your heart
• Christ serves through your hands
• Christ moves through your choices
• Christ expresses His life through your entire embodied existence
You are not the source, You are the instrument.
This is the “through me” reality.
Philippians 2:13 — Christ Produces the Will and the Work
Romans 6 tells us what we are (instruments).
Philippians 2 tells us how Christ works through us.
Philippians 2:13 — “For it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for His good pleasure.”
Two things here:
• Christ produces the will — the desire, the motivation, the direction
• Christ produces the work — the action, the strength, the follow‑through
You don’t generate the Christian life.
Christ generates it in you and expresses it through you.
The Flow of the Christian Life
Put Galatians 2:20 and Romans 6:13 and Philippians 2:13 together and you get the full picture:
1. Christ lives in you — Galatians 2:20
2. Christ works in you — Philippians 2:13
3. Christ expresses His life through you — Romans 6:13
This is the gospel’s operating system.
Not self‑effort.
Not self‑improvement.
Not self‑discipline.
But Christ in you, Christ working in you, Christ living through you
Why This Changes Everything
When you understand that Christ lives through you:
• You stop trying to manufacture righteousness
• You stop carrying the burden of performance
• You stop comparing yourself to others
• You stop feeling like a spiritual failure
• You start living from union instead of effort
• You start experiencing the Christian life instead of attempting it
This is the freedom Paul preached.
This is the life Jesus promised.
This is the identity Jesus Christ Gives Us.
Thanks for spending a few minutes with me today. My prayer is that this encourages you to walk in the freedom Christ already secured for you. Keep pressing in, keep growing, and keep walking in Christ.
